Journey to the Pier

People come from far and wide to enjoy Navy Pier, one of the gems of Chicago. You’ll see children from hundreds and even thousands of miles away, enjoying the Children’s Museum and awesome views of the city. Although the journey to Navy Pier from North Lawndale is just 9 miles, only two kids from our program had ever been there.

But that changed this summer! Thanks to funding from the Chicago Community Trust and Safe and Peaceful Communities Fund, our students were able to visit several cultural displays in the city, including Navy Pier. 

 The joy on their faces spoke to the power of this experience. After a day of laughter, exploration, and wonder, our students came home with the knowledge that Navy Pier – and all that Chicago has to offer – is for them.
