Jemia Cunningham-Elder

All the Board of Directors, staff, and volunteers of HCC shine bright.  Our In the Spotlight feature will shine the light on one of them in each issue. In this inaugural issue, we are excited to introduce Jemia Cunningham-Elder, one of two new members to our Board.

Jemia, a Chicago native, comes to Harmony with an impressive breadth of knowledge and experiences. Beyond her master’s degree in Leadership and Organizational Development from Boston College, her leadership spans her career in the nonprofit, education, and development sectors.

Jemia’s work in North Lawndale is an expression of the belief in the power of education. "Education changes lives and creates generational habits, generational wealth, and generational opportunities,” says Jemia. “With the right support, this neighborhood can thrive as it did when it was originally built.” 

We are excited to have Jemia on board, and know HCC and North Lawndale will benefit from her knowledge, experience and energy.
